This collaboration excites me to the tens. I love the versatility of both artists, and considering that Shad’s collab w/ Kevin Drew and Lobsinger on TSOL was gold, this has to be just as good if not better. 

Shad K - I Dont Like To…

I caught Shad at UBC last night with openers Jedi Nemesis and Isis from Thunderheist. Despite the poor turnout (I blame the poor publicity done by the AMS), it was one of the best live music experiences I’ve had. Jedi tossed us some free merch and we got to talk to him about performing for students and the difference between east coast/west coast vibes. 

Then Isis came on and put on a party for the 30 or so people around. She also threw down a sick cover of Cee Lo’s “Fuck You” to which Jedi enjoyed jumping around like a maniac.

Finally Shad came on and did most of his set in the Pit surrounded by a tiny but very energetic group of fans. It felt so good to jam to “Compromise” and “Get Up” with Shad, in all his sweaty glory, rocking out right next to me. His was a short set but the energy that he gave the crowd was enough to fill the Commodore.

Afterwards I was able to chat with Isis, Jedi, and Shad for a bit about the differences between American and Canadian culture, like our ingrained impulse to recycle everything or the fact that we are polite but not necessarily nice. At that point, somebody pulled out a bong and the night went it’s own way but I just gotta say thank you for a great night, for the great music, and for being great people.
